CINCINNATI, OH, October 10, 2018 – Finalists have been announced for Hospitality Media Group’s 38th annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the industry’s oldest and most prestigious awards program, sponsored by Boutique Design magazine.
Winners in 21 categories will be announced at the Gold Key Awards Gala, to be held Nov. 12 at Gotham Hall in Midtown Manhattan. Sundukovy Sisters, Moscow, the Designer of the Year will also be honored. The gala is presented in conjunction with the Boutique Design New York (BDNY) trade fair and conference, Nov. 11-12, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Both finalists and winners will be profiled in the December issue of Boutique Design.
The Gold Key Awards program recognizes the most influential and innovative design work in the hospitality industry. To be eligible, new construction, conversion or renovation work must have been completed between July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018. Finalists and winners are determined by a jury of industry leaders from the design, operations, development and investment sectors of hospitality.

“Each of the more than 400 submissions for this year's Gold Key Awards challenged the judges to explore what true excellence in design means,” says Mary Scoviak, executive editor of Boutique Design magazine and conference director for BDNY. “With the proliferation of brands and supply growth, no client thinks good is good enough in design terms. This year’s Gold Key entries demonstrate how much designers are delivering above and beyond even the highest expectations and giving both clients and guests exactly what they want.”
Prior to the Gold Key Awards ceremony, NEWH, the professional network of the hospitality industry, will present its annual ICON of Industry award to Esther Cohen, founder of Toronto-based artwork provider PI Fine Art, which has served the hospitality industry for more than 40 years. NEWH will also present its $7,500 Icon of Industry Scholarship to Jieru Lin, an interior architecture student at California College of Arts, and its $10,000 NEWH Interior Design scholarship, sponsored by P/Kaufmann Contract, to Kim Kedem, an interior design student at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
