Construction has kicked off in Southlake on a new hotel — the first phase of a mixed-use development.

The Marriott Delta Hotel is being built at State Highway 114 and North White Chapel Boulevard.

The 240-room, six-story hotel is a project of developer RREAF Holdings.

Dallas' Merriman Anderson/Architects designed the project, which is only the second Marriott Delta Hotel in North Texas.

"The hotel features a modern design borrowing materials and color from the surrounding context," Milton Anderson, Merriman Anderson/Architects vice president, said in a statement. "The warm blend of limestone, metals and stucco create a modern flavor for the architecture, setting the tone for the palette that will be used for the rest of the master plan."

Plans call for up to 240,000 square feet of offices, restaurants and retail space surrounding the new hotel.

The Southlake hotel will have 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

The project is scheduled for completion next year. Hill & Wilkinson is the general contractor.

Delta is a new Marriott hotel brand.

The first North Texas Delta hotel — a 300-room property at the new Allen Convention Center in Collin County — opened in January.
