Merriman Anderson Architects Unveils “Tying the Knot” Design Concept at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa

December 2, 2024

SAN ANTONIO—December 2, 2024After years of meticulous design and documentation, Merriman Anderson Architects (MAA) introduces the interior design concept for renovations at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa. The design emphasizes the property’s rich history, tying a perfect knot in delivering the story of the Texas Hill Country to all who visit.

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa resides in the Texas Hill Country, encompassing 303 acres of land on the western edge of San Antonio. The resort recently completed renovations to its 500 guest rooms and suites, a lobby refresh that included an indoor/outdoor bar, and updates to various dining outlets, including the Antlers Lodge, Charlie’s Long Bar, and Cactus Oak Tavern.

In the design process, MAA’s team learned more about the intriguing history of the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa land, which has stories dating back to the 1800s. It was notably owned by the Rogers-Wiseman family, who kept the land in their family for generations, making it a remarkable destination full of nostalgic memories.

To honor the history of the property, MAA developed the unique “Tying the Knot” concept to connect the historical factors of the location where so many family memories were made and fascinating stories took place. Feelings of nostalgia, comfort, and connection to the property’s past through warm, inviting tones, artwork, inspired lighting, patterns, decor, and much more are highlighted within the interior design.

Various other design elements were also incorporated to pay homage to German architecture and vintage Texas furniture. Materials used in the hotel’s interior include rugged metals, leather accents, painted finishes, weathered woods, vintage components, and striking antique rugs reminiscent of a Texas ranch house. Color palettes feature deep reds, rich browns, creams, dusty blues, warm greens, and patterns inspired by the beauty of the surrounding interwoven cultures. New artwork is featured throughout the resort, paying tribute to the Rogers-Wiseman family’s ranch and unique local pieces.

With the established design concept, the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa offers an environment where guests can feel at home while appreciating the history of the property’s past. Additional renovations are underway as part of the resort’s multi-phase renovation and expansion project.
