Tower Petroleum was initially built in 1933.
The Tower Petroleum building in Dallas is a magnificent monument to the city's architectural and cultural history. Designed by the renowned architect Mark Lemon, the building was constructed in 1933 and has since become an iconic landmark of Dallas.
In 1937, the Tower Theater was added to the building, making it part of Dallas' Theater Row. In 1951, the Corrigan Tower was also added to the building, further enhancing its grandeur and elegance.
The building recently underwent a significant renovation project, which involved registering Tower Petroleum and Corrigan Tower with the National Park Service to receive Historic Tax Credits from the federal and state governments. As a part of this project, levels three through twenty-two of the building were transformed into 137 beautifully designed hotel rooms.
An additional egress stair was added to the building, which was cut vertically through the structure. The second level of the building was converted into a spacious fitness center and meeting space for hotel guests. The ground-floor elevator lobby was restored to its former glory, and the previous ground-level retail spaces were converted into a stunning hotel lobby and restaurant bar.
The exterior of the building was also restored to its original beauty, including tuck and re-pointing of the masonry facade, a recreation of the historic awnings, and the iconic Tower Theater blade sign. Today, the Tower Petroleum building stands as a magnificent tribute to the city's rich history and culture and a testament to the enduring legacy of its visionary architects and designers.
