One of the largest manufacturing plants in Texas
Merriman Anderson Architects led the design-build team for Knauf Insulation’s new manufacturing facility. The project involved creating a state-of-the-art fiberglass insulation production plant, which includes extensive warehouse storage, manufacturing lines, and administrative office space. This expansive facility covers over 600,000 square feet and features tilt-wall concrete construction for efficient delivery. Key design elements include an integrated rail spur and multiple loading docks that optimize the distribution process, supporting Knauf’s advanced manufacturing operations.
Beyond its impressive scale and technical scope, the Knauf Insulation facility brings significant economic and community benefits to Central Texas. The development delivers nearly 200 new jobs to the McGregor area and represents a capital investment of over $300 million in the region. This influx of employment has a multiplier effect on local businesses, as many employees are residents who spend their earnings in the community, boosting activity for area restaurants, retailers, and services. Knauf Insulation has also integrated into the community by supporting local schools and events (from funding a high school scoreboard upgrade to hosting a homecoming tailgate), demonstrating a long-term commitment to being a good corporate neighbor. Local leaders have praised the project as a catalyst for growth, noting that the new facility provides jobs and opportunities while positively impacting McGregor’s economy for years.
