Nolan Estes Plaza - Downtown

Merriman Anderson Architects is leading the design of the new Dallas Independent School District Nolan Estes Campus, a transformative 142,000-square-foot, three-story facility in the heart of downtown Dallas. Opening in January 2027, the campus will bring together three schools—Downtown Montessori Academy, CityLab High School, and the Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA)—to create a unique Pre-K through 12th-grade learning environment under one roof.

Envisioned as a hub for collaboration, creativity, and experiential learning, the Nolan Estes Campus reflects Dallas ISD’s commitment to innovation in public education. MAA began design studies in 2019, exploring multiple sites before finalizing the current location at 912 South Ervay Street. In addition to architectural design, the firm is providing full interior design services to ensure a cohesive environment that supports both academic growth and community connection.

The project highlights inclusive collaboration, with a consultant team composed entirely of minority- and woman-owned businesses. Leading construction efforts is the joint venture of Bowa-EJ Smith Construction and Post L Group. Together, the team is advancing Dallas ISD’s vision for a campus that honors the city’s diversity while setting a benchmark for the future of urban education.
