Isak gained experience as a research and graduate assistant while attending Texas A&M University. 

During this time, he worked on various installations and architectural projects in collaboration with the City of Galveston and Texas A&M University. In addition to his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky, he pursued an Undergraduate Certificate in Historic Preservation through the Historic Preservation department within the College of Design.
