SMU Daniel House
Client: Southern Methodist University (SMU)
Square Feet: 51,000
Daniel House is a new, apartment style, upper classmen student housing building on the Southern Methodist University campus. The project was Design-Build with Talley-Riggins Construction and includes a ground up, 3-story student housing building with 68 beds in a fast-track design that mimics the historical aesthetic of the campus. The 51,000 GSF building includes 34 2-bedroom units, laundry facility, common space, kitchenette, and study rooms. The exterior is a mix of cast stone, masonry, and detailed elements such as the entry portico and the multi-layered cornice. These elements provide a modern design that blends with the existing traditional campus architecture. The interior design creates comfortable space for educational and personal uses, featuring a living room with soft seating and a fireplace, an entertainment space with kitchenette, and a dedicated quiet area with study rooms.
